John Lewis x Rixo is its biggest fashion collab so far

John Lewis has been upping its fashion game in recent years and collabs have been a key part of this. It has now unveiled its biggest fashion collab to date, bringing an extensive 44-piece collection to all stores across the UK.

Its new link-up with Rixo “further bolsters its premium brand portfolio” and features an exclusive print drawn from the John Lewis Partnership (JLP) archive, dating back to 1849. The archive itself contains around 30,000 textile designs dating back to 1799.

The collection will launch on 22 October and given Rixo’s overall profile, it’s a vintage-inspired offer “rooted in a shared belief that clothes should make you feel like the best version of yourself”.

It’s “distinctly Rixo in spirit” and designed for multiple occasions as well as mixing both on-trend and timeless characteristics to make it stylistically durable.

Rixo co-founder Orlagh McCloskey said: “For me, if you’re going to do a collaboration, you have to do it properly. It should feel as strong, if not stronger, than anything you’ve created before – every piece considered, every detail cared for, and something you feel genuinely proud to put your name to.”

She added that it was important to “have created something that reaches a wider audience than our London stores”.

So what does the collection contain? For a start there’s that exclusive floral motif inspired by a block-printed 19th century textile, selected from the JLP archive during the collaborative design process. This is the first time an archive print has been used in a John Lewis fashion collab. The signature print features across two dresses, a blouse, skirt and scarf.

Apart from that there are dresses, knitwear, blouses, jackets, skirts, scarfs, shoes and bags, “bringing together the design ethos of both brands, where signature Rixo silhouettes meet John Lewis wearability”. The hero piece is the Vesper, a full-length dress finished with cap sleeves and a ruffle neckline, plus that archive print.

As mentioned, it will all be available at John Lewis this autumn with prices starting at £65.
